KYC Deadline – October 31, 2024 : BSNL has set a strict deadline for all its customers to complete their e-KYC process. Customers who fail to do so by the specified date will be required to deactivate their SIM cards, first by blocking outgoing calls and finally, if still incomplete, incoming calls as well.
Fake SIM cards and illegal activities: There are reports of fake SIM cards being used for illegal activities in areas like Banswara and Dungarpur. In response, BSNL has made it mandatory for all users to complete e-KYC verification to prevent misuse of SIM cards and strengthen security measures.
BSNL’s Efforts: BSNL is actively running campaigns in rural areas, asking consumers to complete their KYC process. For example, out of 40,000 customers in Rajasthan’s Banswara and Dungarpur districts, 34,000 have already completed their KYC, while around 6,000 customers have not complied despite repeated attempts.
Consequences for non-compliance: BSNL has warned that users who do not complete the KYC process on time will face strict action. Initially, their outgoing services will be suspended, if the process is not completed in time the SIM card will be completely deactivated.
Steps to complete KYC: Customers are advised to visit their nearest BSNL office or authorized retailer to complete the digital KYC process. This applies to prepaid and postpaid SIM card holders. It is important that users take immediate action to avoid disruption of services.
A final warning:
BSNL has been sending SMS notifications to its customers for the past six months, encouraging them to complete the KYC process. The telecom company has clarified that no further extensions will be granted and all customers who fail to comply will have their SIM cards permanently deactivated after October 31, 2024.
To ensure uninterrupted service, all BSNL users are advised to complete their KYC process immediately before the deadline.
