Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it filled 39,000 entry-level jobs in fiscal 2020, despite slow growth in the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sectors.
Fresher recruitment increases in FY 2020
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it has filled 39,000 entry-level jobs in FY 2020 despite slow progress in banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sectors. The company said that the appointment was made to strengthen its mid-level workforce in 2020-21.
Milind Lakad, Executive Vice President of the company said that the appointment was made to further strengthen its management department in the financial year 2021. He expressed the expectation that the BFSI sector will see progress in the next two to three quarters. The company’s revenue grew by just 0.3 percent in the quarter ended December.
We have already offered employment to 39 thousand candidates for the financial year 2021 through TCS National Qualifier Test. This is our medium to long term plan. He has also given instructions to carry out more recruitment in future.
Fresher Hiring Program was introduced for the first time in 2018. Freshers are recruited from all the colleges of the country by inviting online application. He informed that 30 thousand employees have already been joined through this and the rest will join the company in another two months.
Hiring Expectations in IT
The country’s information technology sector is expected to pick up hiring activity despite the backdrop of economic growth. However, companies are focusing on hiring the latest tech talent. Demand is expected to be good not only for freshers but also for those with 1 to 5 years of work experience. Experts say there will be more competition in middle and senior level jobs.
